My Day on 6/6/09

Today I had a fun and fufilling day at centrepoint together with Aunty Jasmine, first up we went to the sportslink and shopped for a couple of badminton rackets, there was apparently a sale going on - 2 rackets for $24.90.
Then we went to Robinsons to shop for some clothes but couldn't find any to our liking, so I walked around and saw a sports shoe with Kappa Brand which cost $39.90, price is certainly affordable.
After that we went to Subway, ordered 3 wraps with 'subway melt' as the filling, we enjoyed our teabreak.
After that we went window-shopping until around 6.15 pm and then went back home by MRT, I am very happy today, especially with the purchase of my desired stuff.

DUCKWEEDS Time!!!

After the field trip, we were supposed to plan another experiment to observe the growth of duckweeds.
OK, basically there were 3 water samples; tapwater, distilled water and canal water...
We were supposed to use our hands to put the duckweeds into the water sample, none of us dared to use our hands to put the duckweeds into the canal water becos' it was just too DIRTY!!!
Errr...in the end Jodi had to do it, heeeheee!!!
Then we played Hamster's wheel, this game's like wheel of fortune...quite interesting I must say.
Then we did our planning on the presentation that was due on the 2nd day of the workshop...

At the canal near VJC

When we reached the canal, we quickly unpacked our things and tied a really long raffia string around a pail for collection of the canal water. After repeated attempts we finally managed to collect some water from the canal. One group threw their pail into the water but didn't held on to the raffia string, so...their pail was lost forever...
We were conducting the experiment on nitrates when suddenly Jodi, who was sitting beside me, screamed or rather shrieked, she screamed that there was a worm on her book, Mwahahaha!!! I think our group experienced the most difficult time in conducting the experiments, there was water spills, presence of worms, and stationeries dropping into the drains and the like...HAHAHA!

Continuation of VJC workshop

So basically after the warming up, we proceeded to the theory, then there was a lot of group work and group discussions on how to conduct experiment to test for nitrates, phosphates and dissolved oxygen in a water sample.
We were also given a brief guide on observing safety precautions when going on a field trip, after which was lunch.
After lunch we were researching on duckweeds for half an hour before embarking on the field trip to conduct experiments on various chemical substances found in a water sample...

VJC Environmental Science Course

I decided to update my experiences of the VJC Science Workshop here as the story is quite lengthy.

My journey begins on 3/6/09...

First of all, I went back to school, assembled at the foyer and waited for Mrs Lim to arrive.
There were about 10 ppl in our school assigned to attend the course or rather a workshop.
Saw Alvin, Jodi, Rachel and some other ppl there.
Mrs Lim came around 8.40 am and we thus boarded the bus...DUH!
We reached the college at 8.55 am and we saw some students from the other schools attending this course too. We then proceeded to the Science Lab named SYNTHESE and we settled ourselves down. We were called Group 4, and after some brief introduction we started on the lessons. Firstly, each group was supposed to come up with 2 questions to direct at the instructors as to why the canal near VJC was dirty and subsequently caused food poisoning( just an example ).
Ok, I gotta go and have my dinner now, will update later...
